Still alive and Kicking....

Although, not been happening for me Poker Wise at the moment. I haven't moved on, given it the flick or tossed in the towel, I just havent had the time to play of late.

I always think of getting back into it, but just can't seem to find the time. Ah well, the Poker Rooms arent going anywhere. I'll be back one day.

For the time being though, it's Family, Work and more work......throw in a little vacation time and it's all chocolates.

I'll have to start posting the newsletters up here again as well. Although, that's another thing I've been a slacker on.

All the best anyway - DC.

Being that Badass Poker Player

G'day there,

This weekend I'll be doubling your VIP points, so get in there and Rake up a storm. If you're sitting there with pocket 9's on the button and someone wants to raise that sh*t......Get involved, slap some chips on the table and then jump into the chat and say "how you like those apples punk?" - more than likely the clown will hit an Ace, King or Queen on the flop and you'll lose half your stack going in for the kill, but, that doesn’t matter, all that matters is that the guy/girl on the other side of the world knows you’re a bad ass.

Don't take that advice, it's stupid, I'm only joking around.....I couldn't think of anything else to write, so I concocted some garbage.

Rightio, now I've filled up the top half of this newsletter, let's move onto the serious stuff and what's happening this weekend.

• Friday 9th Oct @ 4.00pm EST: Poker Rewards Triple Ripple Tournament. . A Texas Holdem, Omaha Hi/Low and 7 Card Stud Freeroll all running at once. The idea is just to get your brain working a bit, I know it may struggle being a Friday evening, but the end of the day, the tournaments are set up just to have some fun. $100 in the kitty for each tournament. No Raked Hands required to enter.

• Saturday 10th Oct @ 11.00am EST: Poker Rewards Survivor Tournament. . This is a $200 freeroll and has no entry requirements. Basically, you're playing poker to survive, all you want to do is try and keep enough chips not to be booted out. For more details, check out: MGS Survivor Tournament

• Saturday 10th Sept @ 7.00pm EST: Poker Rewards Survivor Tournament. This is another $200 freeroll and has no entry requirements. Basically, you're playing poker to survive, all you want to do is try and keep enough chips not to be booted out. For more details, check out: MGS Survivor Tournament

That's it for the weekend. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Take it easy and as always.....Don't forget to water your plants!!

Street Fights and Poker

Ok, I'm going to tell you about my trip to the doctors the other day, nothing to do with poker, so just read the next paragraph if you're not interested.

I was sitting outside the Doctors Surgery with a coffee, just waiting to go and see him for my Flu I can't seem to shake, anyway, 2 cars pull up on the road at the traffic lights and all of a sudden, 2 meatheads jump out and start fighting. They were fairly swinging them that's for sure, these poor older ladies at the coffee shop next door starting screaming as they both spilled onto the sidewalk trying to smash each other into oblivion, at first, I thought it was quite amusing, but it looked like it was going to get pretty serious and these people sitting at the coffee shop were looking at me in a way to say, "aren’t you going to do anything?"

Anyway, without thinking I jumped up and stood in the middle of these guys yelling at them both to cut it out and stop being idiots (I'm actually a big guy myself and played rugby league for about 20 or so years, so have no dramas about being able to hold my own in a confrontation - saying that, I've been belted a couple of times), anyway, as I was yelling one guy swung a punch and just missed me and the guy he was after, I grabbed the fella and yelled again in his face. He didn’t even give me the time of day, he had the RAGE in his eyes and was only after the guy that he started the altercation with.....so after me yelling a little more (basically just pointing out the police station was 100m around the corner), I finally got through to them. So the crazier guy as he was retreating was saying to the other "I'm going to smash your windscreen ", again, I just said to him, "Dude, that's a Bentley, you'll be up for about 5 grand if you smash that", anyway, he must have heard something I said as he looked at me and jumped back in the car. They both drove off and the police showed up about 30 seconds after that. So there ya have it, that was my trip to the doctors.....an interesting one hey. I sort of think, maybe I shouldn’t have stepped in, all the "what ifs" starting floating through my head. But, then I think, well at the end of the day I probably saved them both a lot of law fee's and possibly a trip to the hospital.

Ok, let's move onto POKER shall we......

Friday 18th Sept @ 4.00pm EST: Poker Rewards Survivor Tournament. This is a $200 freeroll and has no entry requirements. Basically, you're playing poker to survive, all you want to do is try and keep enough chips not to be booted out. For more details, check out: MGS Survivor Tournament

Saturday 19th Sept @ 2.00pm EST: Saturday Bounty Buy-In. $3 + 30c will buy you into this Bounty Tournament. $3 for every player you knock out and $150 added to the kitty. Your mates aren't your mates in these games. Every man and women for themselves.
Saturday 19th Sept @ 6.00pm EST: Poker Rewards Survivor Tournament. Those that miss out on the Bounty Game, this is a $200 freeroll and has a 10 raked hand entry requirement. Basically, you're playing poker to survive, all you want to do is try and keep enough chips not to be booted out. For more details, check out: MGS Survivor Tournament
Sunday 20th September @ 1.00pm EST. Sunday Freeroll. 25 Raked Hands to Enter. Limited seats and registration is open. Don't leave it too late to get involved. $200 in the Prize Pool.

That about wraps things up for this weekend, have a good, enjoy your Poker and behave. Don't forget to water the plants!!

All the best

It's been a while

Yes it has. Well, I've been quite busy of late and pretty much left the ol' blog out to dry.

I've been playing quite a bit online lately. Actually, I'm thinking of taking up a challenge similar to that of Chris "Jesus" Ferguson. You know the one where he went from starting off off with no cash and playing in freerolls, to building his bankroll to over $10,000 (all online)? Well, it took him approximately 18 months from what I read, that's amazing - what a player. I know he's a professional, but surely if you're disciplined enough, it would be worth giving a shot? I'm going to start it in the new year and blog my progress.

Hey, I stuck this in my newsletter the other day, thought it was quite funny:

Friendship between Women:
A woman didn't come home one night. The next day she told her husband that she had slept over at a friend's house. The man called his wife's 10 best friends. None of them knew about it.

Friendship between Men:
A man didn't come home one night. The next day he told his wife that he had slept over at a friend's house. The woman called her husband's 10 best friends. Eight of them confirmed that he had slept over and two claimed that he was still there.

We're all Poker guns....

I played in a Poker game the other night at my local club, they were a fairly tight knit bunch of guys, obviously been playing there for a while. I did alright, until I had a brain snap just before the final table and it just so happened to be one of the chip leaders. I got dealt pocket 4’s, everyone folded to my right, so it left me and the Big stack. I raised a small amount, he called. Flop came down 3, 9, k. He lead out with a smallish bet. I called. Turn, 9. He bets same amount and I say all-in. I put him on AQ or AJ, didn't think he had the King. Anyway, he turns over 4, 9. River was a rag, so he cleaned me out. I was spewing, I noticed a couple of guys snigger - I don't blame them really, I played the hand very ordinary. Another lesson learnt for me.

One thing I noticed though whilst sitting at the table, 75% of the guys were all talking and carrying on like they were pro's - acting like real pork chops if ya ask me. Ah well, I'll head back next week and have another shot - hopefully shut a few of them up :o)

Have a good weekend.

Plenty been happening...

I'm sure everyone goes through spells where they are out of the game for while? I haven't played Poker in over a month. It really does feel like an eternity. Actually, this weekend, I'm going away for a short honeymoon. We're staying at a Casino, so I dare say at some stage I will be visiting the tables :o)

And yes, you heard right, Dave Casey has tied the knot. What an experience, what a party. It was awesome. We had almost all my family and friends there. We've received heaps of compliments saying how good it was. I think the fact it was so casual was the reason, heck, I was in a pair of shorts for crying out loud (it was on the beach).

Anyway, there's plenty happening in the Poker Rooms. I've started up a Poker Club, there's going to be plenty of prizes up for grabs, as well as a heap of cash. Make sure you check it out. I'll post the link here next week.

Well, that's all from me for now. Catch ya soon.

What a Dog of a hand.....

I made the final table in a Tournament the other night. Finished 9th out of 1,378 players. I was a little disappointed actually, my final hand I had K-9 of spades, I was the big blind, I had 2 callers, one either side of me. I checked. Flop comes down, Kd-3s-7s, the guy on my left bets out about 1/4 of my stack, the other guy folds, I raise him and am left with half a stack, the guy just calls. Turn delivers the 4h. The guy pushes all-in, I didn't think the 4 helped his hand and figure I'm as good a chance as any, so I followed suit and moved all in. He turns over K-10 un suited, so there I was, preying for a spade on the river.......no good. Looking back, I probably should have at worst put him on KQ or KJ.How would you have played the hand? Any different?

Whoa!!

Haven't I been a lazy sod!!

No, not really. It's just been really busy of late. I could log in and post on the weekends, but that would be too much effort. I'm not sure anybody even reads this anymore.

I was down at the local club last night and they were setting up for a Poker Game. Here's me eating dinner with a Poker Rewards jacket on and all these Poker guys sitting around looking over thinking "who is this guy"? I think I even detected a little hint of fear. When everyone took their seats, most would glance over as if to say, what are ya waiting for. Instead of getting up to play, I turned my attention to the Chicken Schnitzel that was sitting in front of me.

Wasn't a bad prize pool actually. $450 for first place, $250 2nd and $150 for 3rd from a $20 buy-in, I might have to venture up next week actually.

Rightio, there's plenty happening in the Poker Rooms. Be sure to log in and check it out.

Poker Rewards Only Freerolls

G'day all,

Well, I managed to do ok in the Late Night Freeroll for a while. I was on a hot streak there for a while where I knocked out about 5-6 people, but it all came to a crashing holt. I had trips and got smoked by a boat. Should of seen it coming with the re-raises. Ah well, there's always next time.

Seeya's in there tomorrow night.

What's happening in the US?

Well, as far as I know, it looks as though the government has decided to do a 1 year study on "Internet Gaming". Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is being pushed by a Congress woman fom Nevada? Where online gaming has been banned.

Now here's me being the conspiricy theorist and probably completely wrong, but I think she's buying time for the likes of Harrah's, Bally's and the all the other Casino's down there in Las Vegas to set themselves up in the online industry.

I just think it's pretty unfair of the US government to put a stop to what nearly a quarter of the population enjoy doing, maybe more.

Ah well, we've got enough worries on our own shore without having to worry about other Countries problems :o)

Enjoy ya Poker this weekend....I know I will be.

Back from Holidays

Well, I'm back......

Yeah, yeah....Keep the Woo Hoo's to a minimum hey :o)

Well I carted a 6kg poker set all the way around Thailand thinking me and the boys would break em out a one stage and have a game. Not once did we play, we talked about it on a few occassions, just never got em out. The problem was, we had no where to play. None of the rooms we stayed at were big enough and there was no way we were playing outdoors, the heat was stiffling, actually, wasnt so much the heat, it more the humidity. I sweated constantly. Anyway, all good, overall, had a blast over there. One night I got so tanked I can only remember bits and pieces of the evening, I jumped on a motocycle I rented and was heading to the next bar with the rest of the crew, all I remember was being sprawlled across the road all grazed up on my elbow and knee's (yes, I know, it was really stupid - I didnt do it again), however the funny thing was, when I fell off the bike, because the road was so narrow, it caused a domino effect on the rest of the crew, I looked back and saw the rest of the boys canvased across the road. Apparently we were only doing about 5km/hr, so the damage was minimal to everyone and their bikes - I still reckon one of them ran over my leg, still got a massive bruise on it.

Well, back to the real world now, work and Poker - tough life hey :o)

Let me say, I am certainly not complaining.

Thanks and speak to ya's soon.

Tilt

I'm sure every poker player has experienced this at some point in their playing career. You may not even realize you've come across it. It's amazing when you get struck down with it. It's like a disease....comes out of nowhere and sits you on your backside.

I was playing 3 tables the other night, nothing major, just $1/$2 no limit. Anyway, off a $50 deposit I had my balance sitting at $240, all I wanted to do was get to $350 so as I could wire the money out, not to be, the pendulim swung completely the other direction, it was like a virus had just attacked my computer, all 3 tables I started getting pounded. It starts off with a couple of bad beats and ends up with me making dumb ass donkey calls. After I lost the lot (took me about 2-3 hours), I just sat back and said to myself....."What the fark just happened there?" It was like I was someone else.

Are there any antidotes? Well, the best advice I have is to batton down the hatches, try and whether the storm and tighten ya play right up. I can say this now after the sickness has passed, can't say I'm a better man for it.....One thing I can say is; I'm financially worse off for it that's for sure.

Laters.

Long time between posts

Hi there,

Yeah I know, I've been a slacker on this thing. Been quite busy of late. I went white water rafting on the weekend. I've got a mate that works as a raft guide there, so decided to give it a crack. It was 4 hours of awesome fun. I was absolutely knackered after it. Felt like I'd been in the gym the whole time. After about 20 runs down the rapids and staying in the boat about 3 times out of those 20 runs.....It was time to call it a day - best nights sleep I've had in a while. How my mate does this for 4 days a week, I have no idea.

Been playing quite a bit of Poker of late....Mostly with friends. Everytime I win, I cope it:

"Ah so the Poker Manager is taking his mates money.......Hope ya happy".

Different story when those buggers win :) Although the ribbing is all in good fun.

By the way, I've been setting up plenty of freerolls for our players.....be sure to check out the action. Always seems to be some friendly banter happening.

Catch ya later......

Home Alone

That's right.....Home alone folks.

I'm gonna have to break the Poker up by moving to the couch from the computer and watching the Rugby and cricket. This will certainly prove to be the toughest assignment for the weekend. I may even have to consume copious amounts of alcohol to help with the above mentioned situation.

If you do not hear from me within the next 3 days you know what's happened.....I will have morphed into the couch as one.

Fishing tales

I was fishing up North the other week and copped a spine in my thumb from a fish that has poisonous spikes. Similar thing happened in Poker the other day. Got stung by a fish on the River - yeah yeah, very funny I hear you say.

True though, my thumb swelled up to the size of a squash ball and felt like it was gonna pop.

We've been busy as the last few weeks.....finding it hard to keep on top of things. Worst thing is, I have a memory like sive, so I'm forever catching up on things I forget about. Yeah, I know, I've gotta use things like "Outlook" to remind me.

Rightio, I haven't much to chat about except work stuff, so I ain't gonna bore ya with that. Will chat to everyone soon.

I've seen better days......

G'day all,

Sorry for the lack of Blogging everyone.....As you can imagine it's been pretty hectic here with all the changes that are continuing to take place in the US.

Basically all the E-wallets have pulled out of America, so we're only left with debit and credit cards to service our US players, however, as of the 7th February, EcoCard will also become available to the US guys and girls.

I took a couple of days off last week when everything was going pear shaped.....Headed up to my folks place for a long weekend, I actually had to go and inspect wedding venues, man o man, it's going to be costly. Ah well, you only do it once in your life (I'd like to think it will only be once anyway).

Honestly, I have not been playing much poker of late.....not my choice of course I've just been flat out. I really want to get stuck back into it. Maybe towards the end of next week I'll deposit a couple o' hundred bucks and have a good crack over that weekend. Pretty sure I've nothing planned then.

I actually think having a little break from it could do me well, clear my head, refresh the ol' melon, get back into the game fresh as a daisy. The more I talk and think about it, the more I want to play - so maybe it's a good thing to step out of the arena for a bit, get that poker mongrel feeling back into me :)

Rightio, I'm gonna start limbering up and getting ready.....See ya at the tables soon !!!!

Happy New Year

Yes, a very happy new year to everyone. I hope this year brings monster pots, fewer bad beats and many hangovers.

I kicked my Poker playing year off very ordinarily. Deposited $100 the other day, first hand got dealt KK, I pushed all-in, a with $70 called and flipped over 99 ---> at this point I own the sucker, that is until the turn, where this low life hits his 9. So first hand of the year down 70 bucks....

2 hands later, I get dealt A10d, I push the last of my 20 something bucks in the midde.....I get called, this muppet turns over A4, flop comes A,3,10....giddy up, I'm about to win my first pot of the year, turn 2....I start tap dancing, than, like a bolt of lightening from God himself saying, "don't be a cocky son of bitch" the river is a 5. Bitter - oh hell yeah :)

So, I'm winless to date in 2007 - awesome .

Best of luck for the coming year.

Ace Ace - ouch (sometimes)

Morning All,

Well it's been sometime since I posted here.....I've had quite a bit of time off recently. First of all, I had a company trip to the Cricket match in Brisbane played between Australia and England - we smoked em'. That was 5 days of kicking back in the harsh Queensland sun. Man o Man, was I knackered at the end of it. And to top it off, we had to endure free food and beer for the day. So needless to say by the end of the day I was fairly baked in more ways than one ;-)

Hey, I mentioned in my newsletter the other day that I saw Ace, Ace get beaten twice in a row......Surely you must have experienced this once or twice. I really hate seeing it happen, although the first time it happened it was me that actually won the pot, so it wasn't too bad. I went all in with KK and than the guy flipped over AA, my sigh quickly turned to joy as I watched a King come out on the flop. Anyway, all I'm saying is that it does really suck watching those twin peaks crumble.

What are your thoughts when after you bust out of a big hand or bust out of a tourney and you hear the words...."Well that's Poker". I'll be honest, there's times when I wanted to choke that person. I don't mind copping the "Sorry about that" or "Bad luck mate". I must admit though I may have said it from time to time :-)

Christmas is fast approaching, which means half my bankroll gets extracted like a dirty tooth - I don't want it out, but, in the long run I'm better off (well the missus would say I'm better off anyway).

There's a reload on at our Poker Rooms at the moment, be sure to take advantage.

Until next time.........Adios.

Tournament Action

G'day again,

Well, I got stuck into a bit of Poker over the weekend.....Mostly tournaments. I found it interesting the way a lot of guys play in tournaments. Everyone has their own style I'm sure. I notice the real aggressive guy that will go all-in at the drop of a hat and try and double his chips straight up. Then you have the tight player that will sit until they have a monster hand and try and coax out as many chips as possible, that's just to name a couple. The problem is trying to identify these guys before they get your chips :)

Myself, I just enjoy sitting back and watching everything for the first few rounds, I generally avoid pushing All-In (unless I have the nuts of course) and just to get a scope of what's happening. In the Tournaments, I'll just generally play poker (if you know what I mean). I find that's the simplest way to avoid all the rubbish.

Overall I didn't do too badly on the weekend, won a little cash, nothing to write home about though. One thing that really sucks, is when you sit and play quite well, than one or two things upset you and before you know it, you've gone from being in the top 10 in chips to the bottom 5.....then goooonnnee. It's a hell of a lot easier running down hill than up, that's for sure.

Thanks again,

Dave

WooHoo

Wel, I've just had me teeth pulled out. Ending costing me $600 in the end. Best $600 I've ever spent. Now all I have to do, is win that cash back. I need some help to get started as well........

What makes a great poker player? Is it patience? Guts? Can you single any one thing out? Or is it a combination of a lot of things?

I just thought I'd put that out there to see what everyone thinks.

Bye for now.

Friday, November 03, 2006

Ouch!!

No I'm not talking about Poker either.....My damm teeth are killing me. So much so, I'm just about ready to pull the bastards out myself.

I went to the dentist today, $50 for consultation, $45 for the xray.......Then the dude says; "Rightio....this looks like it's going to be a tough one, you're probably looking at $750 - $800 to remove the the teeth that are causing the problem". I told him anything worth that much is probably worth keeping, so I'll be ok for the time being.

Man, that's insane, no wonder I haven't been to the dentist in over 10 years. I have to get it done, I'm only delaying the inevitable :(

Played live the other night

Well, I have to tell you about the other night.

Me and a guy from work ("HMAS" Dom C) went up to a local pub for a game of Poker, their were 35 people there and the prizes weren't too bad for a smallish crowd; 1st $450, 2nd $200.....so on so so forth.

Anyway, myself and Dom are kicking back having a delightful beverage before the game and start talking tactics, now I'm not the best of players, but ol' Domma goes alright on his day. So we start saying that we should sit on different tables to avoid going heads up against each other in hands, turns out we end up on the same table (here's me fist pumping about it - not). So we're avoiding each other quite well, until about the 9th hand, I get dealt KcQc, I decide to limp in and see what happens on the flop, Dom on my left raises 400 (our stacks were about 1600 each), flop comes Jh 3c Qs; I check, thinking Doms gonna bet anyway ( here's me expecting to raise a smallish a bet), he throws in 600 (now I start thinking, geez, don't tell me he has KK or at worse AA), I have to call, I throw 600 into the chook bin. Turn; Ad (bloody hell, I know I'm gone now) I check; Dom goes all-in (grrrr), I'm sitting there thinking, should I just throw the rest of my chips in and be done with it or should I fold and sit here for another 4 hands hoping to jag something decent? I decide to go with the latter. I throw my cards in........Dom turns over AQ, I knew it. However, we did something you should never do after the hand and looked at what the river was going to be, it was a 10 - I was devastated.

How would you have played that hand? I think about re-playing it over and over. Anyway, that's Poker I guess. Still had a great night. Dom ended up Chip leader on the final table, he busted out to some terrible calls and finished 6th, turned out to be a crap shoot in the end.

Well, that's it from me for now. Catch ya's later.

Ya can't get rid of Dave that easily

I bet you thought I was sitting on some Mexican beach using all the withdrawals from our Poker Rooms to buy bottles of Corona, whilst beautiful Latin beauties were waving palm leaves to cool me down - I wish - not true unfortunately.

It's been pretty hectic here of late, what with the American Government passing the new law on Online Gambling. I picked up this link from a fellow workmate, found it quite interesting, if you live in the States, I'd reccomend having a look.

http://www.apcw.org/law

Anyway, I just wanted to say, I'll be back to posting again on a weekly basis (that's if anyone actually reads these). As for our Poker Rooms being removed from the good ol' US of A, they can kiss my ar$e, we're not going anywhere - yet anyway :)

Speak to ya's soon.

Another bad beat

Have to share this one.....I'm sure it's happened to everyone though.

I sit down at $1/$2 NL table, first hand I get dealt A,A; I push all-in with $75, thought to myself that it was a bit of an over reaction, anyway, I get a caller, he turns over 2,2......Flop; Rag, Rag, Rag - At this point I start thinking about the "chocolates" I'm getting. Turn; 2 - me filthy. End of story.

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

Sometimes I wonder why I play this bloody game.

I told a few of my players this week about a hand that got me really pissed. I was playing $1/$2 NL. I only sat down with $50 thinking I'm just going to play poker, no funny stuff, just play poker.

Anyway, my second hand I'm dealt QQ, I raise from an early position, not much, only about 2 bucks, anyway, I get re-raised from a player on my right that previously checked, so I start thinking 'what the...'? Anyway, I re-raise him, he re-raises again, now I'm worried, we're only raising the pot 2-3 bucks at a time (everyone had folded at this point), anyway, I sit and think for for a few moments and think, ah well, if he's got me beat, he's got me beat, at least I'm going in there with a dam good hand, so I push in my remaining 40 bucks into the middle.........The guy calls and flips over 5s4s; at this point I'm gobsmacked. I don't understand what this guy was thinking. Anyway, the flop comes down 5d 2s 10c, Turn; 5h, River; 4h - unbelievable. I wanted to choke the prick.

When KK AK AQ QQ and JJ are costing money, you know you're in a bad down swing.......

Does anyone play the occasional ordinary hand? Like the one the guy above played? I may call a small bet with it, however, I certainly wouldn't be raising with it? What do you reckon he was thinking?

*Reckon = thinks (Aussie slang)

Farewell an Australian Legend

As most of you know Steve Irwin, AKA The Crocodile Hunter, was killed yesterday. I just want to pass on my condolences to Steve's family and friends.

Like or dislike the bloke, he was a Great ambassador for Australia and great conservationist. When living overseas, one of the first questions someone would ask is "Hey, do you know the Crocodile Hunter?" Amazing how they knew him and yet if I asked them who our Prime Minister was they would shrug their shoulders.

Through his TV show and movie (which I thought was pretty ordinary - sorry Stevo) he touched the lives of over 200 million people in nearly every country in the world.

It pains me to say this, but as tragic as his death was, I think it came as no surprise.......He died doing what he loves doing and what he was best at doing.

Anyway, I do wish his family all the best through this trying time. Rest in Peace Steve.

There's a winner in every Race......

That's the advice I was given at the Racecourse last Saturday when I went. Problem was, I didn't find any winners. Every time I backed a horse to win, it would run second. Every time I backed a horse for a place, it would run fourth. Needless to say, I swiped the ol' credit card that many times it was starting to melt into a different shape by the end of the day - not good. Going to regret that later in the month.

If you've noticed, Prima are giving away seats to the "Aussie Millions" in January. I think the whole package is worth about $12.5k, not bad at all. If any player wins a seat through any of our Poker Rooms, I'm going to give away........"A day in Melbourne with Dave Casey". That's right, we can do what ever the hell you like. I've only been to Melbourne a couple of times, so should be interesting to see some of the sites. So everything will be paid for, Breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as any tours or events we partake in, all courtesy of Poker Rewards.

So get in there and win your seat through our Poker Rooms, would be awesome to catch up with someone down there.

All the best....Regards,

Dave

Favourite Poker Player?

I have to say Phil Ivey.....The guy is a machine. Take a look at how he plays this hand. Would you have had the balls (sorry ladies - if any actually do read this) to call him?

Look at Phils face, if you can pick a hint of emotion or anything for that matter from it, you're a hell of a better judge than me.

I won't say what happens (although most probably know). Have a bo peep.

Thanks.

The ups and downs of Poker

Isn't amazing the swings you have in Poker....I had a dream run last week, cashed out and left a hefty balance to play with. But this week, jeez, I've had the worst run anyone can imagine. I've even got a witness to back these claims up. I mean getting beaten on the river is one thing, but to have it happen about 5 times in one sitting is demoralizing. To see Ace/Ace get beat twice during this low point was horrendous.

As they say though, you have to take the good with the bad......"They" can be quite intuitive at times :)

Good luck!!

WSOP Game

Is there any truth to the rumor that Jamie Gold (current chip leader) is going to donate any winnings to charity?

I've just heard this down the grapevine that's all. If anyone can find out, let me know.

Thanks.

Didn't do to well in the Almost Freeroll

Well, I didn't do too well in the Tourney we had earlier. I went all-in with 9-9, the guy 3 hands down calls and flips over A-A, I'm trying to be positive and think, I may still have a slight chance.....That's when the flop came out, A-J-6. Yeeesss!!! I'm gone :)

That's me being sarky by the way.

Catch ya's soon.

Whoop ass time....Well I hope so anyway :)

G'day all,

I'm chucking a $50 bounty on my head tomorrow night and also giving away $5 to anyone I dispose of in the Poker Rewards "Almost Freeroll", remember, you can actually play in this game through any of these poker rooms:

Captain Cooks Poker
Poker Rewards
Golden Tiger Poker
Aztec Riches Poker
Virtual City Poker

So for a piece of the $500 cake, get ya butt in there and try and take me down......Honestly though, we barely get 100 players to these games, so the chances of picking up some cash are really good. Just about every week I'll post one of these games up. It's a great way to better your tournament play, as well as meet the local guns that show up pretty much week to week (yeah, you guys know who you are ;-).

Hey, I'm even going to buy some Poker books in the next few weeks and give them away in the Freerolls, so keep an eye out for those bad boys.

I'll leave you with this quote from a great Australian sportsmen.......I think it could even be translated across to Poker.

"The time your game is most vulnerable is when you're ahead......Never let up"

Cya's tomorrow night at one of our Poker Rooms.

Beer anyone?

I have to say, as much as I like a drink, I'm going to be giving it away when playing Poker from now on. 2 weeks in a row now, I've jumped online after getting home from the local boozer and been smashed on the tables and when I say smashed, I mean really torn apart. After the first week, I got up on the Saturday morning and was going through my hand history and just shaking my head. Some of the hands I played were disgraceful. So yeah, I won't be jumping online after a few beverages from now on.

How's this years WSOP main event.......8000 players and over $11 million for 1st place - Absolutely awesome and insane. Poker is really flying high at the moment. I love watching it on TV, I even watch the massive games on our site. There was a record pot taken down not so long ago on our network; in a heads up game one player collected from the pot approx. $425,000 - unbelievable hey.

All the best for the coming week.

Update

Hi there Everyone,

As you can see I've been away for the past few weeks. Sorry for not updating the blog (for those that are interested). I basically had to fly North to be with my family. I had a family member killed in a car accident. As well as the whole of the family being around; 2 weeks of heavy drinking and eating have helped get over the initial shock, but as I mentioned in the 'weekly newsletter', it's like life slapping you in the face. You see these things on the news and think it can never happen to you or your loved ones - that's just being naive though. It's just a massive reality check when it does happen.

Anyway, if you don't mind.....raise a beer, throw an extra fews chips into pot or just give a little nod when you get your next pair of pocket Aces, for a great mate (and uncle for that matter) of mine. Thanks.

I am one dreary eyed Poker player

G'day all,

Well I arrived home safe and sound from the Australian bush, no bites, scratches, stings or cuts :)

I've actually got some great photo's of some of the wildlife out there. I'll stick them up within the next week.

Anyway, I was playing poker the other night at about 2am in the morning, it got me thinking about the state I was playing in......I mean, I was playing a lot of hands (when I look back) that I shouldn't have been. Now I know guys that will play Poker online for about 10-12 hours straight, that's a marathon sitting for me, my head would be mush after 3-4 hours.
Do you think being at a table, be it online or live, for over a certain amount of time affects the way you play? And at what stage does players actually start to feel this? Has there been any types of study on this yet? It would be interesting to find out.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings ;-)

All the best with ya Poker play safe, yet hard when you have the nuts.

No Poker on the weekend for me

Well, for the first time in a long time, I didn't have a game of Poker on the weekend. My better half decided to go to a "Rave" with a good friend of hers. This meant I had a night with the boys :)

What a night it was.......We started at the Pub at 3.00pm in the arvo*, come 13 hours later I was still standing (well not stading, but leaning against the bar). Yes folks I was as full as a public school bike rack (and I ain't dissing Public schools, cause I went to them most my life).
I don't know how I got home, all I remember is waking up facing the wrong way in bed. I'm sure I was still drunk too. Needless to say, I picked myself up, spun around on the bed and went straight back to sleep.
Sunday was a write off, I did manage to play in a Tournament online and finish 31st out 6700 people I won a meesly $1.30 (it was just a freeroll). So that kept my mind off being crook* anyway.

Arvo = Afternoon
Crook = Sick

Rightio, I'll ya's later.

My first Posts

May 23rd, 2006 by davecasey

Well I set up a Tournament the other day in which i posted a $100 bounty on my head.
My second hand, I was dealt Pocket Aces (A hearts and A clubs), I raised 300 chips (my stack was 1,700), the flop comes down Q, 4, 7 all clubs…….I've flopped the nut flush draw and have top pair. I'm first to bet; I go all-in, thinking no one would even attemp to call me. One guy did, i turn over the Twin peaks, he flops over 10 8 clubs (or something like that)……..Un-bloody-believable. Turn and river didn't help me 1 little bit.
That would have to be one of my worst beats to date in my short Poker career.
Such are the joys of Poker i guess

Cya's,

Well welcome to Dave's "WordPress Poker Blog". It's a sight for sore eyes at the moment I know; give me a little time and this will be the most talked about Poker Blog on the Planet (yeah right).
Firstly, I'm not sure who's going to read this stuff I stick up here……It's mainly going to be just about what's happening in around the Poker Rooms I look after. I'll throw up the odd poker story or "good yarn" as we Aussies like to put it, nothing beats a gripping yarn, a story that tickles ya ribs and makes ya piss yourself with laughter; don't take that literally either, it's just Australian slang - something you're going to have to get used to in this Blog and something all the world will be using in the future (yeah right!!).
Ok, by now you're probably thinking "I've heard enough from this idiot"……Let me leave you with this question (it's one i asked all our Poker players recently):
You're sitting at a Poker Table (six seater $5/$10 NL) in Vegas, you're unstoppable, winning about 75% of the hands dealt, no one can read what you're doing. About 2 hours into the game, Phil Ivey sits down, you start talking to him and realize you're both getting on quite well. An hour passes and you're carrying on like you're the best of mates, Phil's enjoying telling you some stories and you really enjoy listening to them. The only problem is your stack is disappearing to him faster than hungry man downs a Big Mac……What do you do? Do you continue to play and be good buddies with Phil or do you shake hands take the cash and go on your way?
For interests sake; let's say you started with $1000, had $3500 in front of you when Phil arrived at the table and now only have $1700.
I'll post my answer in the next blog……

Catch ya later.
